About the Accompanist

Will Vanderburg, accompanist for the Chorus, has been playing piano since age 5, and composing music since age 14. Will studied music at Catawba College in Salisburg, North Carolina. Will was the winner of the 1986 North Carolina Young Composer's Award. He has performed in a variety of settings, including musicals, orchestra, and Jazz ensemble.

About the Conductor

Director, Jason M. Diaz, is honored to be conducting the Jackson Civic Chorus for his second season. Before accepting this position, Mr. Diaz spent four and half years studying music education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. During that time, he acquired knowledge in many subject areas with several noteworthy professors. Mr. Diaz studied tuba performance with Dr. Gary Bird; voice (tenor) with Dr. John Dietz; and wind band conducting with both Drs. Jack Stamp and Jason Worzbyt. He graduated from the university with High Honors in December of 2004.

Currently, Mr. Diaz is proud to be an educator with the Jackson School District. During the school day, he teaches middle school vocal music at the Carl W. Goetz Middle School. He usually spends the remainder of his day attending to his responsibilities as the Music Staff Member of the Jackson Jaguar Marching Band and Pit Director for the Jackson Memorial Spring Musical.

About the Chorus

The chorus consists of four voices, Bass, Tenor, Alto and Soprano. Our members live in Jackson and the surrounding communities of Toms River, Lakewood, Freehold, Manchester and Howell. They are of diverse musical backgrounds. Together, they bring a beautiful sound to the music we present.
